day 2: phuket!

♪♫ one (your name) - swedish house mafia.

i didn't wanna blog about day 2 until i get the remaining photos from juliana but... never mind la.
anyway here is the first installment of the second day, which was hands down, our favourite day of the whole trip! :D

we had to be up and out in front of the hotel by 8am so that we don't miss the driver resulting in us having to get up at 7am or something ungodly like that.
since we were super beat from the lack of sleep from day 1, we knocked out pretty early anyway no problem wtf.

taken in front of our hotel at 8am; check them puffy faces/eyes out!

the driver came and the van was already quite full (even before we got in) from tourists who were on the same island hopping tour.
after driving for about 20 minutes or so, we got dropped off at an assembly point where we got designated our boats and tour guide.
it was super crowded; everyone was busy trying on flippers or just milling around waiting for their colour to be called.

our color was orange or red i cannot remember la but basically, everyone who had the same color would share the same boat.

awhile later, they called us and off we went to board the speedboat; ours was number 919 or 99.
you see, this is why i should blog quicker before all this little details escape me :(

anyway, our speedboat had 48 people and seating arrangements were based on first come first serve basis.
people who boarded first would get shaded seats but not much view and vice versa with no shade from the sun (and it was crazy hot btw) but killer view.

we were quite lucky and got possibly the best seats on the boat because it was on an elevated platform so we got a really nice view overlooking the sea but still shaded from the sun :D
it's not trivial leh!
we spent quite a bit of time on the boat getting from one island to another plus, tides were high that day and what was normally a 45 minute ride - turned into double that amount of time -__-"

after a bumpy ride, our first stop was at a beach inhabited by monkeys which was quite unmemorable so second stop was maya beach!
we were told that only 30 minutes was allocated so we hopped off and chilled for awhile before the tour guide screamed our boat number and we had to leave again.

people watching. there were (and i'm sure, are) so many beautiful people there with killer hot bods.
both ladies and gents ;)

getting way too much vitamin d.

the view was amazing and the waters are so clear and pristine.
the only downside and a forgivable one since the countrys' main revenue is tourism is the crowd.
only tourists from china or hong kong would come to a beach with a chanel and fully clothed -__-"

anyway, the lady on the right of the photo provided us endless amount of laughter throughout our trip :D
she was one of the tour guides (not ours) and was in charge of making sure that everyone in her boat boarded when it was time to - standard tour guide duties yes.
she was trying to find a couple of indian tourists presumably from her boat and i'm pretty sure everyone on the island knows because she yelled, at the top of her lungs, in her really coarse and husky voice:

"INDIAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

she yelled sporadically, over say, a 30 second interval and everyone who heard or walk past her would literally go O________O"
i myself choked in disbelief, feeling thankful i'm not indian at that time wtf.

after <s>ogling at hot guys with hot bods </s> people watching for awhile, we heard our tour guide calling our boat so we scrambled quick before he employed his colleague's technique and go all: "CHINESEEEE!!!!" on us three wtf.

we got back to our boat and decided to trade seats with three sri lankan girls who were seated out the front because one of them got seasick and we also wanted to sit outside la.
it was fucking hot but i didn't really mind it because the scenic surroundings made it all worth it.

juliana | brenda | lily.

different shades of blue.
sigh, it was so breathtaking.

this are the outside seats i meant and where the guy is standing, we were seated behind the screen before scooting out front :)

the boat stopped in the middle of the sea and people who wanted to go snorkelling can do so and people who didn't want to can chill :)
i felt claustrophobic with the mask on and i really didn't like biting on the mouthpiece so i passed and chose to lounge around on the boat.

overlooking at the gorgeous waters.

anyway.
once we moved out front, we started talking to two kazakhstan guys (who incidentally, were waiting for the same tour bus in front of their hotel which is a few steps away from ours) and found out that they are studying in malaysia :O
i think it's weird (in a non condescending way) that people actually come to malaysia to study because us malaysians make it a point to graduate with a foreign university degree.
i guess it works out the same la but why malaysia? it's not like our universities are one of the top ones leh.
digressing further, russian/kazakh is hands down the sexiest language, i mean even the way they speak english is super sexy with their heavy accents ;)

back to the story!

after snorkelling, we went for a buffet lunch at another island.

while i was queuing up to get food, this chinese man, very obviously from china because he was wearing a floral button down top, short shorts, an ugly hat with crocs conveniently tried to cut my queue!
i inched closer to the person in front of me, shot him a dirty look and said "excuse me? the queue starts at the back."
maybe my england very terror he didn't understand me so he didn't budge and more people behind me started to notice.
this guy standing directly behind me tapped his shoulder and gestured to him the start of the line and the china guy gave him a menacing look, and even looked back while making his way behind! :O
i was afraid he might go ballistic and cause a scene but thankfully he kept his mouth shut.

i am sure there are nice people who are from china but i have not met one who is polite, considerate and has acceptable social etiquette.
they are the ones who will not hesitate to shout over a throng of people on the airplane, spit whenever they want and make things immensely difficult for people unlucky enough to service them.
us 3 girls shared a table during lunch and a group of china tourists started coughing and spitting up phlegm next to us and not only that, they also started grabbing tissues and toothpicks without saying "excuse me, do you mind if we take these?"

-__-" no manners.

anyway, we went back to the boat and went to the last island which was khai island! :D
we spent majority of our time there - some went snorkelling, swimming or just chilling on the deck chairs.

liddis! :D

one deck chair goes for 150 baht.
after settling down, vendors would come up to you with a menu and take your order - drinks, cocktails or icecream.

we sat for awhile drinking a super sweet coconut, walked around and went for a dip.
even without snorkels, the waters are so clear that i was able to see them just looking down.

fishes going to school; a school of fishes geddit geddit!! :D

the were tons of coral and sharp edged rocks so walking on shallow waters was quite a painful thing to do.
after about an hour and a half, we heard our boat number being called and boarded for mainland back to the assembly point.

we were on the same bus as the kazakh boys (since our hotels were literally a street away) and we got dropped off first.
we said our goodbyes and i thought to myself "hmm are they really not going to ask us out?" but right before we stepped into our hotel entrance, we heard the boys going "hey girls! girls!"

:)

later during the trip, i found out that lily and juliana were thinking of the same thing ie why haven't they asked us out when we just got dropped off.
haha. it was a safe assumption ok! we were talking quite a bit on the boat and we're not exactly baaaaaaaad looking right wtf.

but they did ask us out and it was quite easily one of the best night outs in history :)
second installment of the second day when i get the remaining pichas!
