rome, in captioned photos because it's there's too much to write about & i've lost the plot about 3 times now.

vatican city | shopping for scarves to cover up shoulders & knees as a token of respect when entering the sistine chapel & st peter's basilica.
fontana di trevi - threw a first coin with my right hand over my left shoulder to ensure a return to rome, and a second coin to find love in rome... ;)
spanish steps, piazza di spagna.
forum romano | ancient ruins of the roman empire.
colosseo | elliptical amphitheater with a seating capacity of 50,000 built during the roman empire for gladiatorial fights and shows.
it was surreal just being in there....
my navigator (and in rome, tour guide wannabe) throughout europe without whom, i'd probably be somewhere in europe sitting in a bathtub of icecubes with a missing kidney.
ti amo, bella <3
obelisk.
pantheon.
award winning gelateria, gelateria del teatro | we all had 5 scoops.
hands down, the best i've ever had.
prosciutto x melon.
if i see this on the menu, i can't NOT order it.
lobster linguine. mama mia...
seafood pasta; DIVINE.
streets of rome.
altare della patria; altar of the fatherland built in honour of victor emmanuel.
souvenir stall.
rome randoms:
- it's against the law to kill stray cats because they're believed to be incarnates of julius caesar, the man responsible for the gradual transformation of roman republic to an empire.
- vatican city and rome is separated by a wall.
- the trevi fountain fetches 3000 euros a day of which the money is siphoned back to the government.
- the queue to enter the colosseum is the longest i've ever seen. it literally snaked all around the perimeter of the building.
- there was a forest fire (yet another one in less than 2 weeks) that broke out and caused massive delays and service disruptions to the metro service. we left the city at about 7, got home about 10pm.
- rome was brutally hot in july. had it not been a hundred degrees, we would have enjoyed more.
and finally...
i do love italia. venezia, firenze, roma; all of it.
xx
