christmas 2012.

sigh.
dish @ dua residency, kl.
hands down, my favourite restaurant in the city for its' simple & hearty take on food.
went to a contemporary fine dining restaurant before AND I GOT FOAM IN MY ENTREE.

how do people stomach that? foam. really?

bread to start, with herbed butter and balsamic vinegar & olive oil.
the butter was soooo yummmm :3

amuse bouche | watermelon cubes & feta cheese, deep fried eggplant strips & aioli.
skipped the watermelon one because i hate cheese but the eggplant strips were so moreish :D

entrees |
for darren - pumpkin soup with shiitake mushrooms and duck confit,
for rae, amy & charles - tomato risotto with black olive tapenade,
for me - seared tuna nicoise salad.

how they battered and deep fried the quail egg whilst maintaining the runny yolk is beyond me.
and those tuna chunks, oh my god.

mains |
for amy - roast turkey, chestnut stuffing, roasted vegetables and potatoes, brussel sprouts & cranberry sauce.
for darren, rae and charles - grilled rib eye of beef, 250g, mashed potatoes, green beans, hazelnuts and garlic.
for me - salt baked cod, red pepper sauce.

flaky cod...and that puree is so goooooooood.

for amy, darren and charles - traditional christmas pudding.
for rae and i - caramel chocolate delice with raspberries and icecream.

i had christmas pudding before and i didn't like it but those losers didn't know what to expect hahahaha.
we were all pretty blown away with the waiters lit up their gravy boat filled with brandy on fire and poured it over the pudding but honestly, christmas pudding doesn't taste nice to me, what more when drenched in brandy.
you'd think i'm all for alco in desserts but the only ones i like are frangelico and kahlua ;) that's it.

OUR DESSERT ON THE OTHER HAND.

holy sweet mother of GOD it was out of this world.
rae and i dug in at the same time and our eyes went wide simultaneously, going "OHMYFUCKINGGOD" it was so super delicious! i would go as far to say it was better than the dessert that i had in gordon ramsay's petrus @ london which i can't remember what it was wtf.
but this, this dessert would stay in my mind for years to come.

i wanted to ask the waiter if they sold the delice in a cake form wtf.
the chocolate is dense, thick and not overly sweet so it wasn't too cloying.
the lime icecream and raspberries were tangy so it was perfect.

if i go back to dish, it's going to be hard to not order this again but they serve other really creative desserts like rambutan panna cotta, pandan creme brulee and some mangosteen thing.
pretty tempted to try them all actually :3

petit fours (or twos in this case?) | chocolate truffles & rose flavoured marshmallows.

cuppacino to end :)

damn that was such an epic meal.
definitely going back!

after dinner:
pavilion for a beer (or two),
and shisha to wrap it up.

xx

all photos are shamelessly ripped off amy and rae's facebook and blog respectively, love you two ah.

eurotrippin;: mykonos!

i've been doing this #throwback thingo on instagram (missbrendalynn) featuring all my travel photos and i really can't let this blog die la -__-"
i mean, it can die after i've blogged about all my travel tales but not before that, nuh uh.

so here we go, again in point form/short sentences because memory abit rosak.

x

5am - wake up call.
6am - bags to coach and a 2 hour drive from the athens hotel to the port.
8/9am - ferry ride; sea breeze, coffee, ciggies.
3pm ish - MYKONOS!!!

{the havoc after disembarking the ferry.}

{beach in front of the hotel \\ pebble beach, calm and pristine waters, waitresses walking around taking drink orders....livin' the life.}

{my idea of heaven on earth.}

{diluz <3.}

{night 1 - 4 bars, 1 vodka redbull bucket, too many shots & whiskey cokes...}

met a greek guy.
danced and drank for a bit.
sat by the river and talked about everything <3
organised a date the next night.
dated a greek god, massive tick off my bucket list ;)

rocked up back to the hotel at 7am when the hotel staff were setting up the breakfast counters...
7am - sleep.
9am - breakfast.
10am - change to bathers and slept the hangover away at the beach with the occasional corona/malibu pineapple <3
6pm - shower.
7pm - date night :)

was worth ditching the group's toga party to see mykonos town like a local.
saw nooks and crannies i never would have known existed because it's like a freaking maze; every turn leads into a tiny alley that opens up into a big space.

cocktails at a seriously romantic bar.
walk around town.
dinner at a taverna.
wine :)
conversations at the beach til 8am.

so i slept at 8.30am.
breakfast at 9am.
beach at 10am.

on my deckchair, staring into space:
cam: hey B! nice arse! *grins*
B: thanks cam -__-"

cam: can you rub lotion on me please?
B: sure thang *squirts sunblock and rubs on his back*
*masseuse passes by*
masseuse to cam: "sir, you want massage?"
cam: no thank you! i got my own one. look! *points to me rubbing his back*
-__-"

3pm was time for BEACH PARADISE!!!
only the biggest beach on the island that happens pretty much everyday.

dj on the microphone: "open your mind...open your pussy!"
sweet jesus.

{beer for me, cocktails for them girls!}

{B | lester | lisa}

{ralph got proper drunk even before the sunset and went around kissing girls on their bellies/necks}

{a long stretch of bars // tabletop dancing - that's how it's done in mykonos!}

then 9pm came...and most of our group went back to the hotel with the coach.
10 (out of 50) of us stayed back to party some more, it was only 9pm omg!

weak.

those blasted chairs. my foot got so swollen the next day because i was sitting opposite hollie who was wayyy drunk (and high) so everytime someone on the other side of her chair got up, her entire weight came crashing down on me.
and she's not even fat -__-" it's those goddamn chairs.

lisa and i were walking to the bar to get a drink and we kissed about 10 guys while walking there and back.
they would just grab you and either kiss you straightaway or have the courtesy to ask: "can i get a kiss?"
-__-"

this guy from florence came looking for me while i while i was back with the group and asked if i wanted to go for a swim ie code for something else wtf.
guy to me: "hey, let's go for a swim!"
B: "err no thank you, it's so dark."
guy: "come on it'll be fun!"

the group intervenes: "wow wow! brenda, do you want him?"
errbody looks at me.
B: no i don't.
the group to the guy: "sorry man but you heard the girl, you should leave."

they got mah back! :*)

12am, we ditched paradise beach for cavo paradiso, a club nearby.
12am and IT WAS EMPTY because the party starts at 2am good god.
monique and i got free drinks the entire night because we be flirting with the bartenders who were taking photos and videos of us sculling all the free drinks and shots they gave us :x
(we were at the bar so we knew for sure they didn't spike our drinks ok?)

partied til 5am.
got home at 6am.
woke up at 8am.

i thought i was pushing it but dilz and monique only reach the hotel at 8am, one hour before the coach leaves homaigad.
they didn't sleep O___O"

craycray.

what an epic way to party.
only in mykonos ;)

mwahmwah xx
