christmas 2012.

sigh.
dish @ dua residency, kl.
hands down, my favourite restaurant in the city for its' simple & hearty take on food.
went to a contemporary fine dining restaurant before AND I GOT FOAM IN MY ENTREE.

how do people stomach that? foam. really?

bread to start, with herbed butter and balsamic vinegar & olive oil.
the butter was soooo yummmm :3

amuse bouche | watermelon cubes & feta cheese, deep fried eggplant strips & aioli.
skipped the watermelon one because i hate cheese but the eggplant strips were so moreish :D

entrees |
for darren - pumpkin soup with shiitake mushrooms and duck confit,
for rae, amy & charles - tomato risotto with black olive tapenade,
for me - seared tuna nicoise salad.

how they battered and deep fried the quail egg whilst maintaining the runny yolk is beyond me.
and those tuna chunks, oh my god.

mains |
for amy - roast turkey, chestnut stuffing, roasted vegetables and potatoes, brussel sprouts & cranberry sauce.
for darren, rae and charles - grilled rib eye of beef, 250g, mashed potatoes, green beans, hazelnuts and garlic.
for me - salt baked cod, red pepper sauce.

flaky cod...and that puree is so goooooooood.

for amy, darren and charles - traditional christmas pudding.
for rae and i - caramel chocolate delice with raspberries and icecream.

i had christmas pudding before and i didn't like it but those losers didn't know what to expect hahahaha.
we were all pretty blown away with the waiters lit up their gravy boat filled with brandy on fire and poured it over the pudding but honestly, christmas pudding doesn't taste nice to me, what more when drenched in brandy.
you'd think i'm all for alco in desserts but the only ones i like are frangelico and kahlua ;) that's it.

OUR DESSERT ON THE OTHER HAND.

holy sweet mother of GOD it was out of this world.
rae and i dug in at the same time and our eyes went wide simultaneously, going "OHMYFUCKINGGOD" it was so super delicious! i would go as far to say it was better than the dessert that i had in gordon ramsay's petrus @ london which i can't remember what it was wtf.
but this, this dessert would stay in my mind for years to come.

i wanted to ask the waiter if they sold the delice in a cake form wtf.
the chocolate is dense, thick and not overly sweet so it wasn't too cloying.
the lime icecream and raspberries were tangy so it was perfect.

if i go back to dish, it's going to be hard to not order this again but they serve other really creative desserts like rambutan panna cotta, pandan creme brulee and some mangosteen thing.
pretty tempted to try them all actually :3

petit fours (or twos in this case?) | chocolate truffles & rose flavoured marshmallows.

cuppacino to end :)

damn that was such an epic meal.
definitely going back!

after dinner:
pavilion for a beer (or two),
and shisha to wrap it up.

xx

all photos are shamelessly ripped off amy and rae's facebook and blog respectively, love you two ah.
